Departures at Manchester Airport
As there are 3 terminal buildings there are 3 departures areas. The main hub of departures being in Terminal 1. Below is an outline of each of the departure areas.
There are plenty of toilets (including disabled) in all departures areas, including baby changing facilities.
Smoking is allowed in some Meeting Point areas and designated seating areas.
Manchester Airport Departures
When you arrive in the departures at Terminal 1 there are separate check-in areas for charter and international flights which can be a little confusing, so make sure you check on the board to see what number check in desk your flight is.
Note that Airtours charter flights check-in is on the lower level of departures. You can use a lift or the escalators to take you to this area.
Express check-in has been introduced in the departures areas of all 3 terminals. This means that you do not have to queue and can simply do it on a touch screen. They are easy to use and all you have to do is identify who you are by your credit card or passport and then just follow the simple instructions that come up on the screen. The kiosk will print your boarding card and the tag for your suitcase. The kiosks are lime green so they are easy to spot and are in the main check in area.
Once you have your boarding card and the label for your suitcase then simply take your luggage to one of the bag drop desks which are clearly marked.
